I Was Plagued By My Inability To Identify Specific Colors…

‘While in elementary, I prestiged to the 2nd grade to only be shadowed by something I had no control over. In my latter years, it’s reign of control in my life began to diminish.
Throughout my 2nd grade year, I had noticed that all the other kids around me were able to answer our teacher’s questions regarding color much more accurately than I ever could. Because of this, I mentally engulfed myself in a chamber of self doubt, and I was plagued by my inability to identify specific colors.
I ended up flunking 2nd grade, and was moved back to 1st grade. This was a detriment to my psyche as I lost a great deal of confidence in myself, even as a kid. I had not realized what was going on with me, but as time continued to take it’s toll, I soon discovered that I was colorblind.
As I matured through my years, I often got teased by my classmates for wearing pink socks with my outfits. I had no clue I had pink socks on until, of course, I was teased by others (a result from washing my white clothing with my red clothing and my failure to recognize that my white socks had actually turned pink).
This pattern of not being able to identify the difference in colors had to stop. So, I stuck with solid type colors at first. I progressively improved my color schemes, and as a result, my confidence began to creep back into my life; thus my fashionable style.'
'Once self-defeated and torn down from my colorblindness, now confident and masterful of my style of dress. People often ask how I’m able to match my outfits so well if I’m colorblind. I smile as I answer their inquiries, because I’m no longer reminded of my past when I was that kid who couldn’t answer my teacher’s questions.
It’s easy to say that fashion has given me my style, but I’d like to think the complete opposite. My colorblindness has given me my style, and my ability to use this handicap to my advantage has shaped my diversity in dress that is quite often regarded as elegant, yet simple.’

I Always Was Around Fashionable People Who Had A Wide Range Of Eclectic Tastes

‘I am a 27 year old fashion designer from Boston, MA. Not only am I inspired by fashion, but I enjoy helping others get out their dreams and find their passion. I feel that we all have a gift, and it’s our obligation to find it and share it with the world. I am currently involved with several different community service projects. I grew up in the urban city of Boston, and because I have taken the road less traveled I hope to inspire one person to believe that they can reach success no matter their situation!
I have always been inspired by fashion ever since I was in elementary school. My dad is a business man, so I often saw him in suits or even saw him casually well dressed. Both of my parents are fashionable so the gene rubbed off on me. Being from the city of Boston, I always was around fashionable people who had a wide range of eclectic tastes and made fashion statements everyday.
The reason why I attract to fashion so much is because its one of the few ways that you can differentiate yourself from others before even uttering a word. Fashion is an industry that every individual can have his/her own personal style, and that style be accepted because its element is organic.
I honestly feel the way you dress yourself is a direct correlation of your personality. Often times the way you’re dressed demands a certain type of respect, and in my opinion, that is one very important essence of the fashion world. You make others appreciate your individuality and respect who you are.’

We Were The Only Kids Who Went To School With Two-Piece Corduroy Outfits…

‘My style was instilled in me since I was a young boy. My mother was a prom dress seamstress and she started me and my twin brother out in modeling at age 5. We were the only kids who went to school with two-piece corduroy outfits and bow ties.
As I grew older I never fit into the style “box”. I always felt that style shouldn’t just be about the clothes, but the way you carry yourself. With my style there is no “box”. I enjoy preppy and bold fashion with a splash of color!
I am a personal trainer so that means a lot of my time is spent in the gym so I’m not too focused on my style. Outside of the gym is a whole different ballpark because I get to showcase me. I love dressing up from a tux to attend an awards show, to a cardigan and bowtie for a night out on the town, to a suit for attending church.
People have always told me I have an eye for fashion so I am always looking to better my style by pushing the envelope. Using splashes of color accompanied with my signature sunglasses I show off my inner me. Who I am which is a fun loving, God fearing, goofy kind of guy. A man should make the clothes, the clothes shouldn’t make the man.’
