Eventually An Epiphany. I Wasn't Meant To Follow Everyone Else

'When I was young, I was awkward, overweight and insecure. I always quietly admired and envied all girls around me who were thin, fashionable and so confident. When I matured I worked on myself, lost weight and slowly gained the courage to try some of the current trends. I found myself disappointed that I still didn’t feel as confident as all the other girls...

Eventually an epiphany; I wasn’t meant to follow everyone else. I cleaned out my closet, purchased some budget friendly basics, invested in some higher-end timeless pieces and filled in the rest with some fabulous thrift finds and slowly found my style.

Style, to me didn’t come easily. It was a challenge, and well worth it. It shows others that you're a person of interest and that life is worth making the effort for. Style is inspiring.'

A Sense Of Style That Will Last The Test Of Time

'I started my transition into menswear going into my junior year of college. Since middle school, I had avidly been involved with the sneaker culture but as I aged, I realized that my fondness for that world started to diminish and instead I looked toward a bright new future. Through the help of many inspirational people, I began finding myself and eventually became an established contributor on a thread titled "Dressing Better" on NikeTalk.com.

From this point I began molding what I loved about fashion into my own attire. Eventually I ended up becoming recognized for my sense of style and won TSBMen's May Giveaway. Since then, I have also been featured on TSB's website and have built a strong relationship with members on both there and the NikeTalk community through a shared love of fashion.

Now that I am finished with my undergrad and have a job as an in house accountant for a software reselling firm, I strive to enhance my wardrobe with timeless pieces, one purchase at a time. I would define my style as "Classic with a Twist". This is very prevalent in my suiting choices which takes great inspiration from the 60's and 70's. Rather than fall into the pit of fast fashion trends, I prefer to make strides to create a sense of style that will last the test of time.'

Traveling to Athens, Greece

I have some sad news and some very exciting news.

Ruth and I are traveling to Greece and will be spending a few days acclimating ourselves to our new surrounding and in general just going through the motions of traveling. This week will see for the first time in over 150 Daily Fashions, a stop in sharing.

I encourage you to look back through the Daily Fashion and review your favorites up to this point. The more feedback on the stories we share the more in depth they will become.

The good news is that the following week there will be a Daily Fashion blitz! Normally we share 5 featured fashion stories each week but from the 28th of April to the 2nd of May there will be no less than 10 new Daily Fashion Features. It will be a rollercoaster of excitement and hard-work.

Thank you all for your time and for sharing the stories you read here at the Daily Fashion.
Cheers,
Matthew Miller
