'Having a bit of sartorial elegance in an otherwise bland environment helps to brighten things up. When I first started work, I was a sloppy guy. Working for an environmental NGO in the early 90s meant there were no dress code to speak off and everyday was casual Friday.
After I changed my job to become a policy wonk I felt the need to dress better as I was working with some nattily dressed gentlemen including a world renowned political geographer who is never without a Panama hat whenever he is in Malaysia and a cartographer who always had a pocket square even then.
Over time I developed my own sense of dress which reflects my personality and approach to life and work and balances a conservative working environment with a bit of sartorial wiggle room accorded to those in research. Most days I'm a shirt and tie guy although some occasions call for a suit and that allows a bit of 'accessorizing' with handkerchiefs and cufflinks.'

'I am a Fashion Producer for The Dapifer magazine. My ideal wardrobe would probably consist of a vast selection of suit jackets and other casual menswear attire. I love tailored cargo pants and double monk strap shoes. Being a Dapper Man is more about creating the outfit. The smallest detail can make your look. Pocket squares, silk knots, watches, bracelets,
etc.
For some reason so many people are hesitant to explore the dapper style. The dapper style is defined as sexy, smart, and stylish. There are Dapper Men all across the world who have different styles due to there traditional backgrounds. I intend to meet and be inspired by all of them to constantly evolve my style. As a Dapper Man I want to shift the culture.'

'It all started with Tumblr, I started following men's fashion blogs and fell in love with the different ways to play around with colours and style. I noticed in South Africa the styles that I see online would only hit here a few months later. I used this information to keep the gents up-to-date with what was still going to be released here. I would like to keep this momentum going.
Recently I have also started producing high end pocket squares and again I add this all started with tumblr and the need to keep up with fashion. Being a dapper man is a lifestyle, the way you carry yourself and come across to others, a true gentleman. It's about the style that you create and not always following the main stream.'
