It Was Creative, Collaborative And Fun And I Was Surprised At How Easy It Came To Me

'I started The Rakish Gent late last Summer to fulfill a long time passion for men's fashion. Working full time as a lawyer, I found my own site to be the perfect outlet for a lifetime hobby. The law is a career which involves a great deal of reading and client contact, concerned with profit and deadlines. I found fashion to be completely different. It was creative, collaborative and fun and I was surprised at how easy it came to me.
The catalyst was me trying to express myself and to offer something a little unique. The site features trends and fashion movements but it is inherently my own style - a mix of high fashion and high street, smart and formal with great attention to detail.
Since I launched the site, I have become involved in fashion writing in a big way and have contributed to numerous online and print publications as a menswear fashion writer. It is incredibly rewarding to be able to enjoy a hobby in such a way as attending the London Collections Mens shows in January as an affiliate blogger of the London Fashion Council, and being allowed access to designers and others that work within the industry.
I am very lucky to have had such support from the fashion industry and to have been able to work with great people, including a group of illustrators that contribute art to the site, styled by me. I am incredibly proud of the success of the site in the small time that it has been live and hope to be able to pursue writing in a more permanent way in the future. My name is Tajinder and I am the man behind The Rakish Gent a menswear fashion and lifestyle blog, affiliated with luxury retailer Mr Porter and brands Topman and Asos. The blog has had over 21,000 views in just over 4 months and features street style photography, new brands, commentary on what to read, where to go, as well as fantastic fashion illustration.'

See If It Doesn't Change The Way People See You And Treat You

'I'm an ordinary guy who loves to dress up and isn't afraid to go all out when dressing up. My style consists of bold colors and patterns. I own my own business called MaiTie which consist of handmade ties and pocket squares. It all started back in 2012 when I got a summer job and I could actually afford nice, decent clothes.
The people who most Inspired in the beginning were friends from church. As my "Passion for Fashion" grew, I started to get more and more inspiration from guys on Instagram. As time went on, I started getting recognized more for my style on Instagram and for the way I dressed. In mid March of 2013, I went to into a fabric store with a friend and fell in love with it immediately. I started coming up with ideas on how to use certain fabrics to make ties, pocket squares etc. That same day I went home and spoke with my sister about what she thought about opening a online shop together. I'd be creating everything and she'd be providing the financial portion of the business. We came up with MaiTie. Mai, meaning elegance. I'm Chinese which is where we came up with the slogan "Handmade Elegance At Its Finest".
Some people may not take "fashion" or "dressing well" serious, but to me it's more than just fashion or dressing well. To me dressing well is a way of life. It's a way for showing who you are without even having to talk. It has opened many doors for me, it has given me confidence, and it has given me courage to go out into this world and achieve nothing short of greatness. Just because I decided to start dressing well.
So whoever is reading, man or women, make the choice. The choice to start caring about how you present yourself to this world. See if it doesn't change the way people look and treat you. Clothes are just material things and shouldn't be the center of your life, but why not use them to look good while you're living it?

I Fell In Love With The Way They Wore Clothing

'It's all about mixing American Prep and sports wear for me.
I found my style about two years ago. I was in a clothing store in New York when I came across a book called "Take Ivy". I knew little about "Ivy Style" but I was interested. For me, I fell in love with the way the men wore their clothing and how comfortable they felt wearing such unique patterns. From there, I began to really look at different styles and what would work for me. I started to build my wardrobe based on mixing the idea of the American Prep and Classic American Sports Wear.
I believe my style is constantly changing depending on what I'm reading, where I'm traveling to or what I'm listening to. I'm just 21 year old trying to make a statement with my style.'
