I Knew It Was Time To Get Down To Business...

'I had wanted to start a fashion blog for well over a year, as I was already obsessively following bloggers from Seoul to Milan to L.A. After I became a fashion writer for www.joonbug.com, I knew it was time to get down to business. New York Fashion Week for Spring 2014 was one of my first assignments. Excitement and nervousness consumed me, as I was both in awe of the street style and runway shows, and intimidated by prices I could never afford.
As a student in New York City, I knew that I had a passion and keen eye for fashion trends and personal style. However, my budget didn't match the city I lived in or the events I was covering. My blog, which was originally an outlet for my creative spirit, became a streamlined place to showcase how I attempt to look very high-end without accumulating credit card debt. What was a hobby for me is also practical knowledge for the young and the stylish who are trying to simultaneously build their wardrobe and their savings. Showcasing New York City style on a student budget is the goal of my blog, but playing dress-up in one of the most amazing cities in the world is also just a fabulous hobby.'

In A Place Where Everyone Could See And Hopefully Draw Inspiration

'I launched my plus size style blog, Beauticurve.com in January 2013 after much encouragement from strangers, friends and a growing Instagram audience. So many people tell me, “I saw that but I didn’t know what to wear with it”, or ” I would have never thought to shop there”.
I wanted to journal my fashion adventures in a place where everyone could see and hopefully draw inspiration. As a plus size girl, I have grown to be very comfortable with my size and actually enjoy myself as I am. I believe style has nothing to do with what size you are. Fashion is for all sizes. If you are plus-size that doesn’t mean you have to be condemned to a lifetime of oversized clothes or a wardrobe of black.'

Eventually An Epiphany. I Wasn't Meant To Follow Everyone Else

'When I was young, I was awkward, overweight and insecure. I always quietly admired and envied all girls around me who were thin, fashionable and so confident. When I matured I worked on myself, lost weight and slowly gained the courage to try some of the current trends. I found myself disappointed that I still didn’t feel as confident as all the other girls...
Eventually an epiphany; I wasn’t meant to follow everyone else. I cleaned out my closet, purchased some budget friendly basics, invested in some higher-end timeless pieces and filled in the rest with some fabulous thrift finds and slowly found my style.
Style, to me didn’t come easily. It was a challenge, and well worth it. It shows others that you're a person of interest and that life is worth making the effort for. Style is inspiring.'
