The scions of Medici have long since gone but their impact remains on the city of Florence. To walk through the city is to feel a thousand years of history. One wonders how many generations of pigeon have laid claim to Firenze. How many have roosted atop the Duomo or the Bell Tower? A bird flutters at my feet as I rush for my daily espresso, and I dream of Florence in 1400.
