‘I Raid My Closet And Make Multiple Outfits Out Of One…’

‘My name is Sean McIntyre and I attend Manhattan College. During my sophomore year, I wrote a bi-weekly column called “Can I Wear That?” which showed pictures of different fashionable students and descriptions about their outfits essentials.
While writing this column I realized that college students want to be fashionable, but suffer from the lack of income. To avoid wearing the dreaded sweat suit, you can make numerous outfits from just one similar piece. When I hear my friends say, “I have nothing to go with this shirt,” or, ” I can’t wear anything with those shoes,” or even, “Nothing matches this,” I can go into their closet and find an entire outfit.
'1oeo, or 1 Outfit/Endless Opportunities, is where I raid my closet and make multiple outfits from one similar piece or pieces. You can make ten outfits with one white button down, or twenty outfits with one pair of navy pants, or an infinite amount of outfits with a pair of black boots. Each outfit differs from accessories, pants, coats, shirts, and so on.
All though my column has ended, I have continued 1oeo’s passion for changing the way a person can look at their closet by posting my daily outfits and adventures in New York City, both as a resident and an intern at “Cosmopolitan” magazine.’

‘It Was Interesting Seeing How People Would Combine Different Colors, Patterns, And…’

‘My style is determined by my feelings on that particular day. I was first introduced to fashion through many different blog sites. It was interesting seeing how people would combine different colors, patterns, and textiles to create an awesome look. That’s where part of my inspiration incomes from. The other half comes from urban fashion. I combined the two styles to create my own unique style. To me fashion is about self expression and I’ve found a way to do that through my style.’

‘South LA Was Much More Than A Struggle For Me…’

‘Having been born and raised in a low-income, inner city community in South LA was much more than a struggle for me, a struggle that I continue to battle even with the privileges that I fought to acquire over the years. I knew ever since I was a kid that baggie pants and shirts were not going to open the doors that I aspired to walk, and at times, become the architect of, so I began to shape the style that best fitted my perseverance, accomplishments, persona, and grit.
It all began in my pre-teens, when I became a part of the Distinguished Gentlemen at my middle school in Compton, California. What shirt and tie seemed to the other kids as an obligation, I saw it as a way of using these “garments of war” as a means of overcoming the stigma that plagues my community and youth. It grew from there, and rather than to follow trends in fashion, I’ve developed my own to reflect the simplicity it had on the eyes as well as the complexity behind the articulation of who I am and who I am destined to be.
My attire not only reflects my taste in fashion: it is also a reflection that regardless of who we are, where we come from, and what we aspire to be, we are capable of overcoming that which comes through our destiny.’
