Sitting for hours hurts my butt.

It's not really a problem, mind you. There is all of this talk about sitting being horrible for proper health.

They are probably right, but sometimes to get the right portrait you just have to sit down with someone.

You have to sit across from your momentary muse and get to know him, or her.

I'm all for standing. I will stand and draw and talk and drink coffee at the same time. But standing is often difficult for the muse, and the muse must be appeased.

Drawing for Project Show was such an amazing experience. (read more about that in 'Project Sketching')

I was able to sit down with some amazing people. Some truly stand-up, generous, likeable people. If you have the chance you must say hello to any one of them.

Just say 'Hello, Sunflowerman says you're great.' That's all.

I learned that

having prior sitting experience is great in a portrait subject
estimating the time it will take to complete is difficult
some people talk with their whole bodies (I'm talking to you Ashley and Megan)
and all of these people truly are amazing people (I can't say it enough)

I'm calling this collection of illustrations the People of Project- stealing the name from Ahmad's great photographic series during the same Show this year.
